How to Microwave Spaghetti Squash

Once you know how to microwave spaghetti squash, you won’t go back to roasting it in the oven. Learn how to cook spaghetti squash in just 10 minutes!

If you are on a keto/low carb diet, spaghetti squash is a great replacement for traditional noodles. However, the cooking process is a little too long for my patience! With that said, I’ve learned you can microwave a spaghetti squash in under 15 minutes.

Depending on how large your spaghetti squash is, you may need adjust your timing. Typically, it has taken me about 10 minutes whenever I’ve microwaved a spaghetti squash.

How to Make Spaghetti Squash in the Microwave

By cooking your spaghetti squash in the microwave, it saves a lot of time. However, if you prefer to roast the spaghetti squash in the oven you can do that as well.

Cut the squash in half, lengthwise. TIP: If the squash doesn’t sit flat, remove a piece of the backside of the skin so it sits flat.

Once the squash has been cut in half and sitting flat, remove the seeds. Place about 1 cup of water in the “whole” where the seeds were.

Put the other half of the squash on top and place on a microwaveable safe plate of dish. Microwave for 10 minutes until the skin is soft and pliable. Allow to cool for a few minutes before handling.
