- dinner is done when you are ready
Do you have to boil frozen ravioli before putting in the slow cooker?
No! The entire purpose of this recipe is quick and easy. The frozen ravioli will cook in the slow cooker.
Ingredients for Ravioli Lasagna
- protein – we used Italian sausage for this recipe. However, you can use ground beef or ground turkey.
- onions, garlic, tomatoes – this is the basis to any good lasagna recipe!
- seasonings – Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
- spaghetti sauce – use whatever you have on hand or is on sale to keep it a frugal meal.
- cheese – you can’t forget the cheese! Whether you use shredded or grated parmesan and mozzarella, the cheesiness just adds to the deliciousness of this ravioli casserole.
How to Make Ravioli Lasagna in the Slow Cooker
In a large skillet, brown the sausage or whatever ground meat you choose.
Once the meat has cooked through, add in the onions, garlic and diced tomatoes. Let simmer for 3-5 minutes until the onions have softened.
Next, pour in the jar of spaghetti sauce and combine with the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Allow the spaghetti sauce to heat up for a few minutes.
In the bottom of your slow cooker, place a thin layer of the spaghetti sauce mixture. This helps prevent the frozen ravioli from sticking.
Then, layer in the ravioli.
Top with spaghetti sauce and cheese.
Repeat another layer with the remaining ravioli, spaghetti sauce and cheese.
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. Since the spaghetti sauce is cooked, you are just wanting to make sure that the ravioli is soft and heated through.
Serve with a side salad and garlic bread for a complete meal.

Looks delicious! Would you be able to make this in the oven instead of a slow cooker? If so, what would the cooking time look like?
Could this be made using fresh ravioli rather than frozen?
