Back-to-school season is full of excitement (and letβs be honest…a little chaos). One of my favorite ways to slow down and savor the moment is by surprising the kids with a fun first day of school breakfast board. Itβs a simple tradition that makes the morning feel extra specialβand it doesnβt have to take a ton of time or money.
This yearβs board was INSANELY adorable, and Iβm sharing everything I used so you can recreate it too!
Whatβs on the Back-to-School Breakfast Board?
I focused on bite-sized breakfast favorites that are easy to prep and perfect for little hands:
- Mini pancakes (store-bought or homemade)
- Mini waffles
- Grapes (cut in half for little ones)
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- DIY apple-shaped cinnamon rolls β This was the showstopper!
π Hot tip: You can prep everything the night before and warm it up quickly in the morning to keep the rush to a minimum.
Make It Festive with Simple Extras
To elevate the board (without breaking the budget), I added:
- A printable βBack to Schoolβ pennant (linked in my LTK here)
- Cute toothpick flags for labeling food
- A small chalkboard sign from the Target Dollar Spot
- A themed serving tray (but any large cutting board or baking sheet works just as well!)
Everything I used is linked for you in my LTK shop so you can grab it all in one spotβmost of itβs from Amazon, Walmart, or Target.
Why I Love This Idea
As a mom of four, I know the mornings can be hectic. But taking a few extra minutes to create something special like this breakfast board helps my kids start their day feeling loved, excited, and celebrated. And thatβs really what itβs all about.
Whether youβre sending off a kindergartener or a high schooler, this little tradition is one youβll all remember.
