What is the Purpose of the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was a french nun that had visions of Jesus in the 17th century. She revealed that Jesus requested to be honored during a holy hour and feast day devoted to his Sacred heart (Our Catholic Prayers).

The feast day of the Sacred Heart was officially established in 1856. It is a time for Christians to show our devotion and love to Jesus! The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a way for us to show our devotion to our dear Jesus. Many Catholics will attend adoration and say the Litany in the presence of the blessed sacrament.
