We started our debt free journey in January 2019, when we first went through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.
After that it was game on!
It took us about 7 months to get caught up on our current bills and payments, sell cars, downsize our home, and finally be ready to put our first debt snowball payment on the debt!
We made our first debt snowball payment on June 22, 2019, and we never looked back.
Our debt snowball is larger than most, and sits at a whopping $625K.
Thanks to medical school, starting a business, and several other “dumb” debt decisions, we found out very quickly that letting our debt hang around was simply not going to work for us.
Because our six figure debt is so large, and our income is not quite where we need it to be, it will take us about 5 to 6 years to pay off this debt.
I’m quite confident we will do it faster as we find more side hustle opportunities, increase our income, and continue to cut our expenses.
One of the biggest hurdles to paying off debt is definitely staying motivated!
