Make this easy football banner in under 30 minutes using dollar-store supplies. It’s the perfect budget-friendly touch for tailgates, watch parties, homecoming, or your kiddo’s team snack tableβ€”no fancy tools required.

This project comes together in less than 20 minutes, and it’s the perfect backdrop for your snack table, mantle, or photo booth.

What You’ll Need (All from Dollar Tree!)

  • 1 green plastic tablecloth (this will be your β€œfield”)
  • 1 β€œGAME DAY” letter balloon kit (also find on Amazon)
  • White masking tape (for field lines + numbers)
  • Scissors and clear tape (to hang your banner)

Total cost: $3.75 (or under $4!)

Step 1: Create the Field Background

Unfold your green tablecloth and cut it to the length you want for your banner. You can keep it long and drape across a wall, or cut it shorter to hang across a doorway or mantle.

Step 2: Add the Field Lines

Using white masking tape, create horizontal yard lines across the banner about 3–4 inches apart. For extra detail, cut small pieces of tape to make little yard marker numbers at the ends of the lines (like 10, 20, 30, etc.).

It doesn’t have to be perfect β€” once the balloons are up, it looks super realistic and fun!

Step 3: Inflate & Attach the Balloons

Blow up your β€œGAME DAY” balloons (the kits come with a straw for easy inflating). Use tape to attach them across the middle of your β€œfootball field.”

Step 4: Hang It Up

Tape your banner to the wall behind your food table, or string it across your mantle. Because it’s lightweight, painter’s tape or command strips work perfectly for damage-free hanging.

Styling Tips

  • Snack Table Backdrop: Hang it behind chips and dip for instant football vibes.
  • Photo Spot: Tape it to a fence or garage wall for the perfect game-day selfie station.
  • Kid’s Team Parties: Swap β€œGAME DAY” for balloons that spell out your team name or mascot.

Why I Love This DIY

βœ… Super affordable (under $4!)

In 2018, I decided to turn my mom blog, into a personal finance blog so others could follow along on our journey to pay off over HALF a MILLION dollars in student loan and practice start up debt. I hope you enjoy following along, and maybe even find some inspiration along the way.
