What are tostadas?
Tostadas are simple baked or fried corn tortillas they are layered with beans, cheese, meat and your favorite taco toppings:
- avocado
- guacamole
- diced tomatoes
- salsa
- cilantro
Ingredients for Chicken Tostadas
- shredded chicken
- beans – you can use refried or black beans
- cheese: shredded cheese or queso/cojita cheese work best
- tostadas – you can buy at your local grocery or fry taco shells
- Guacamole Salsa
How to Make Chicken Tostadas
Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Add the chicken (ensuring the chicken is fully covered by water) and reduce the heat to a low simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of your chicken breast. The chicken is done when the thickest part of the chicken registers 165Β° on an instant read thermometer.
Transfer the chicken to a large bowl and allow to cook slightly before shredded with two forks or a hand held mixer.
Top every tostada shell with beans, chicken, guacamole salsa and your families favorite taco toppings.
