One of my favorite things about Christmas is searching high and low for the most adorable (and affordable) matching family pajamas. Who wouldn’t love opening gifts while looking as cute as can be for family pictures?
Why is it so much fun to “decorate” your kids with festive holiday attire? And I won’t lie, I love a good Christmas onesie or flannel gown myself.
It’s easy to get carried away with any holiday spending, and the hunt for the perfect set of matching Christmas pajamas is no different.

How to get the best deals on Matching Family Christmas Pajamas
Wait for Sales
One thing I’ve noticed in the last several years is that there is almost ALWAYS a sale. This is especially true for large retailers like Walmart, Target, and Old Navy (which are 3 of my absolute favorite places to shop).
If you think you’ve found the perfect set of matching family Christmas pajamas, but they’re not on sale, KEEP LOOKING! I promise they will be on sale in the next couple of days, and if not, you’ll be able to find something similar for a better price.
Shop Early
The best time to look for a deal on holiday pajamas is NOW. Don’t wait until a couple of weeks (or days) before Christmas. Not only will it be difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for, but you also risk a chance of everything being sold out, or even worse having to pay HUGE rush shipping fees to get it to you before the big day.
I’m writing this in October, and the holiday sales are already running strong, so now is the time to check out the deals and grab your family pajamas!
Use Rakuten to get Cash Back
Almost every place I shop during the holidays is part of the Rakuten cash-back program. There is absolutely no fee or cost to use Rakuten, simply sign up here and add the browser extension to your Google Chrome so you don’t forget to use it when you shop.
Shop Thrifted (mix & match)
Nothing can ever beat good ‘ol thrifting. With all the stuff in your local thrift shops, you’re sure to find cute pieces to add to your matching holiday pajamas that are also good in quality too. There are a couple of organic cotton fabrics available for men and women and for kids as well.
Of course, you won’t find the exact matching pieces for each family member, but if you don’t mind mixing and matching the outfits together, this won’t be much of a big issue for you. Just stick to a theme or color and you’re good!

Walmart has several options for matching Christmas pajamas on a budget, in every color, shape, and size you can imagine!
Good ol' Amazon, always coming to the rescue with budget friendly clothing finds. You can get these family bear Christmas pajama tee shirts in almost every color and basically any family member name you can come up with (yes even MeeMaw, Momo, and MaMaw).
This would be a good option for families living in warmer climates since it's a simple tee shirt. Grab some plaid shorts like these to complete the look.
Where to get inexpensive Christmas pajamas for the whole family
Kohl’s
Some tips you can keep in mind when you buy here and want to save some extra cash are signing up for their email list to get 15% off on your next purchase. You can join their program rewards to get 5% cash back. By using their coupons and promo codes, you can get a lot of items for less too!
Old Navy
Use coupons, make sure to check their offers page to see what you can get. Other options you can utilize on your next visit can be signing up for their text alerts, scanning their home page for discounts, shopping in their clearance department, or asking for a price accommodation.
Target
Target has specific days where they mark down certain departments for clearance so make sure to always keep an eye on that. Also, understand your clearance codes and items, watch out for products marked down in yellow or red tags. One important thing to note is to always shop early during the holidays as the sales go up to 90%!
Amazon
Sign up for their ‘Subscribe and Save’ program for various markdowns on a lot of household items. If you have a little one with you, enlist in Amazon Family for awesome deals on baby essentials. Choosing a no rush shipment to earn rewards and use them for your next purchases.
Walmart
Download the Walmart app and find deals for your next purchase. Buying priced-to-go clearance items is a smart way to get things for less as well. And don’t forget to take advantage of their coupons too. Walmart also offers some items for same-day free shipping so look out for that when you’re browsing!
Looking for festive family pajamas especially if you have a tight budget or if you’re a frugal-loving momma like me, can be quite hard to balance especially during the holiday season. But being merry while looking festively stylish with your family doesn’t mean that you have to rip your wallets out to look adorable!
