The cool thing about Pinterest’s algorithm right now, is that they are prioritizing heavily keyworded, personal boards.
This means you don’t have to worry about being a member of 50 group boards to get your content pinned and clicked.
Pinterest is also rewarding new content creators, so if you are new to Pinterest and don’t have many followers, don’t worry!
Pinterest wants you to succeed and will prioritize your content.
If you follow these simple steps, you will have the best chance to make your content go viral and make sales! Let’s get started…
Decide on your target market.
Who do you want to make the gift guide for? Who do you sell to? Try to niche down.
Don’t just sell to “women”. Be more specific, like “12 unique gifts for busy moms.”
Make Your Gift Guide.
Here is an example of a holiday gift guide I made this past Christmas season.
If you don’t have a blog, you could link directly to a sales page that shows the products in your gift guide.
Caution: You will see a lot of bloggers circulating gorgeous gift guide pins with Amazon products. I have done this before too, but it’s actually against Amazon’s affiliate policy. If you want to use the images from Amazon’s site, you have to get permission from each individual company.
Design your pin.
I love to use Picmonkey because it has more features, but it is a paid for service.
If you are just getting started Canva will work just fine.
There is a theory going around that paid stock photos do better on Pinterest because the same images everyone is using are not already circulating and confusing the Pinterest algorithm.
I get my paid stock photos on Deposit Photos.
Create 5 new boards on Pinterest that fit your Pin.
Do your keyword research so you know what people are searching for!
Examples may include:
- Christmas gifts for mom
- Unique gifts for mom
- Creative gift ideas for moms
- Holiday gifts for busy moms
- Gift ideas for mom
Pin your Holiday Gift Guide to your boards.
Then schedule to Tailwind or continue to pin manually each day.
You can get a free trial of Tailwind, to schedule your pins here.
Bonus Tip: You just need to get people over to Amazon! This is something I never understood until recently. If someone clicks on an item you recommend, but ends up buying something else, you still get the commission. This is especially awesome during the holidays because people are just loading up their carts with gifts!
If you follow these tips, start early, and stay consistent you will be successful and see a big boost in your holiday blogging income this year!
